Auckland Polo Club is nestled in picturesque countryside in the village of Clevedon, just 40 minutes drive from downtown Auckland. The Club's beautiful grounds include three polo fields, with use of two more in close vicinity and, on the sideline of the No 1 Fisher field, a fabulous 'country' style clubhouse which is available to hire for functions. Chukkas are played midweek throughout the season and practices give way to tournaments from mid December till April. With a compact polo calendar the club endeavors to accommodate all levels of player and enjoys a fun, inclusive atmosphere.
Home of the prestigious Land Rover NZ Polo Open, the club typically hosts some 24 low goal teams and six high-goal teams in 'The Open'. The tournament climaxes, after a week of pool matches, with the grand final played in front of a crowd of thousands on Saturday 23rd February. Skill, horsemanship, passion and parties . . . its amazing! We welcome everyone to come and join us for a great day out! If you would like to learn to play polo then the Auckland Polo School operated by Justin and Tamsin Watson, is the ideal place to start. With a smaller field perfect for learners, professional coaches and experienced kind ponies you will have a great time and it is a natural step in to the club as you progress. Justin and his team offer friendly coaching either individually or in small groups - see the polo school link to inquire and book a lesson. |
